It has opened up a world of opportunities and opportunities for architects, but the challenge for many architects is how to keep their work authentic and relevant.
The architectural profession has long been a traditional, professional sector, but with the rise of the digital economy, it has also become an opportunity for designers to be creative and innovative.
The rise of digital technology is creating a world where it’s possible to access and share designs that were previously unseen, often with the assistance of an external agency.
The result has been a new generation of architects with a greater ability to build on existing designs and create new ones.
It’s been a challenge to find a place in the world of digital design that can be understood and appreciated by people from all walks of life, from students to the working world, says Paul O’Connor, senior lecturer in the Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design at the University of Limerick.
“Architects who are new to this world will be challenged in their approach to designing, and will be able to use digital tools to make their work more visually interesting, to make it more visually engaging, to change it up,” he says.
“This is an opportunity to build new relationships with clients and with architects, to learn new skills, and to learn from the latest in design.”
To be successful in this new world of the design profession, it is important to be able not just to design something, but to communicate your ideas, to communicate the idea to other architects, he says, and the best way to do this is to make use of the tools that have come to life.
“There are different ways to do it,” he explains.
“You can use a website or a social media platform, you can use video, or you can even get in touch with someone directly to have a conversation.
These are all really useful things, and you can also use a design firm or a design school to help you learn the skills you need to be successful.”
But I do think the digital world has been an incredible opportunity for the profession to be involved, not only in the design of buildings, but in how we communicate with our clients and the public, to engage them and to be innovative in a way that’s going to be useful to them.
“It’s not just the architect talking to their client, it’s the architect interacting with other architects and with other companies.””
Now we’re seeing a lot more interaction online,” he notes.

It’s a much more online world than it was when we were the traditional, physical place.
“People are really going to take more ownership in how their design is presented and it’s really exciting to see that happening,” he adds.
Architectural design is an art form, and its importance is not just measured in the amount of time spent on the job, but also in the quality of the product that the architect creates.
“What makes an architect really successful is how their work has been recognised, whether it’s a product, a website, or a book, or even an artwork,” he said.
“They are an incredibly powerful part of the fabric of society, but there is also a sense of ownership that comes from working with these people and having a relationship with them.”
The digital revolution is creating this new, collaborative and collaborative place, where architects can be creative with clients, communicate with others, and work with the public.

It allows the architects to be more involved with the process, and also gives the clients a greater say in how the architecture works,” he continues.”
I think we’ve got an opportunity here to bring together a large number of architects who want to share their experience and knowledge, but at the same time, have the confidence to create things that can connect with other people, not just with architects.”
We’re starting to see a number of these platforms being built, but they are only really being built by architects who really understand how the digital landscape has changed the way that they work.
